Model licensing
Every model in this run is redistributable under CC-BY (attribution required). Most are CarveMe/embl_gems reconstructions derived from a BiGG-based universal model; their CC-BY release rests on a stated, contestable position (stoichiometries are non-copyrightable facts), and BiGG restricts commercial use, so commercial reuse needs your own IP review (see the Data & licensing page). Nothing here needs to be obtained elsewhere.

What this is
Minimal consortia that make a SUITE of products from a single feedstock, where EACH member contributes a distinct necessary function (remove any member -> lose >=1 product). This is the near-term form of the large-N north star reachable with stoichiometric community FBA (the single-target thermodynamic form needs TFA: a Phase-2 capability). OOS-confirmed: the discovery mode replicates on held-out organism pools.

Caveats (disclosed up front)
- FBA proves a route is stoichiometrically POSSIBLE, not that a living cell/co-culture will do it.
- Every consortium here is a HYPOTHESIS until cultured; nothing is wet-lab validated.
- IRREDUCIBLE-by-CAPABILITY: removing any member loses >=1 product's community exchange: the engine-native semantics, not a demonstrated obligate co-culture.
- N (members) is set by how many DISTINCT products are demanded vs. member generality: reconstructions are production-generalists, so a small N covers many products. Larger balanced N needs a broader product suite or de-gap-filled specialist models.
- Where a member cannot grow alone yet contributes a product beside a feeder (an auxotroph), that is EMERGENT cross-feeding: real in the model, a hypothesis for the bench.
